for Iranian Young Cinema Society Products
"BOOMRANG" directed by Daryoush Gharibzadeh and "Mashi and
Mashianeh" directed by Hassan Naghashi, produced and distributed
by IRANIAN YOUNG CINEMA SOCIETY have won the Prizes of the 10th
Echo-Ethno-Folk film festival in Romania.
"BOOMRANG" bagged the BEST DOCUMENTARY PRIZE of the festival
includes the Festival Trophy, Diploma of Honor and Cash prize.
"Mashi and Mashianeh" bagged the Festival Diploma of honor and
cash prize as well.
Among the countries participated in the festival like Japan,
Slovakia, Qatar, Romania, India, Italy, USA, Bosnia, Canada,
Serbia, Germany, Croatia, Ukraine, Russia, Argentina,
Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Belgium, Moldavia, China, Peru,
France, Poland, Denmark, Tunisia, Philippines, Spain, Turkey,
Venezuela, Macedonia, Mexico, Iran,…. Iran with 5 short
documentaries stood first in the festival.
The "Echo-Ethno-Folk" film festival took place on Sep., 2-7,2008
in Romania.

Iranian Short film in 3rd Didar International Film Festival
"Limit of a Circle" directed by Shahram Mokri, produced and
distributed by Iranian Young Cinema Society has been selected to
be screened in International competition section of 3rd Didar
International Film Festival.
The festival has 2 sections of fiction short and feature film
competitions. The Iranian journalist and critic, Houshang
Golmakani is a member of Didar Film Festival jury.
The festival will take place on October, 12-16, 2008 in
Dushanbe, the capital city of Tajikistan.

The festival will take place on October, 17-19, 2008 in
Slovakia.
The festival holds the International competition of films on
ecology, ethnography, culture and art, on traditional ways of
life of people in various countries and regions. Since its 20th
anniversary, the competition takes place under the auspices of
the International Organization for Amateur Films (UNICA).

Cinema Society Short Films in Festival Der Nationen of Austria
10 Iranian films
have been screened in the 36th edition of Festival der Nationen
of Austria.
The festival has taken place from 15 till 21 June in Ebensee and
shown over 370 short films from different countries.
The short films from Iranian Young Cinema Society in this
festival are:, The Carpet of Wood (Abdorahman Mirani), Scarecrow
(Naser Naserpour), The Escape (Salman Bahonar), Thimbleful of
Water (Ahmad Arjmand), An Opportunity for Smoking a Cigarette (Bita
Khodadad), Limit of Circle (Shahram Mokri), Empty Fish Bowl (Atefeh
Khademolreza), People Are Distant (Ashkan Ahmadi), Alternation (Mahdi
Farde Ghaderi), and War & Life (Jamal Rahmati).
Festival Der Nationen organizers have specified a section of
this year's festival to Bulgaria and are going to show Bulgarian
films in this special section.
The jury members include some filmmakers and cinema experts from
Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, and Czech Republic.

Threshold" directed by Ali Bayat and "The Holy Light" by

Managing Director
of Iranian Young Cinema Society, Nasser Bakideh headed for
Afghanistan- Kabul on July 5-10, 2008 as a Jury member of the
3rd Kabul International Documentary and Short Film Festival.
Afghan young filmmakers were addressed in 2 workshops as "The
role of screenplay in short filmmaking" and "Adaptation from
East Cultural and Civilization-based sources" including the
vital and basic training material for short filmmaking lectured
by Nasser Bakideh within the festival.
"BOOMRANG" and "SPARKLES" among IRANIAN YOUNG CINEMA SOCIETY
products have been selected to be screened in the festival
international competition section.

Fog Tribe" in Yari Film Festival
"A woman from Fog Tribe" directed by Ashkan Ahmadi, produced and
distributed by Iranian Young Cinema Society has been selected to
be screened again in Yari Film Festival along with the other
feature, short and documentary films.
Yari Film Festival allocates all its revenue to the Orphaned
children and will take place on Sep., 25-30, 2008 in Sweden.

filmmakers from IRANIAN YOUNG CINEMA SOCIETY admitted for the
fellowship of 4th Asian Film Academy, Pusan International Film
Festival, 2008
Atefeh Khademolreza and Masoumeh Rajabi, 2 Iranian Young
filmmakers admitted for AFA 2008 Fellowship among 153 candidates
from 16 Asian countries. The fellows who were selected have
passed the preliminary and the final selection.
Asian Film Academy (AFA) is an educational program where
prospective filmmakers and established directors from Asia
gather to deliberate and prepare for the future of Asian cinema.
Fellows of AFA will share the vision of Asian cinema with
prominent filmmakers through its 17 days of program which will
take place on Sep., 25 to Oct., 11, 2008 in Pusan, South Korea.
The IRANIAN YOUNG CINEMA SOCIETY, as a FILM SCHOOL introduced 28
talented young filmmakers for AFA 2008 fellowship.

Lithuania
TINKLAT INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL has organized to

first edition of the international festival of food and film
will be held in Bologna, Italy from 7-11 May 2008.
Slow
Food on Film aims at promoting a new critical awareness of food
culture through the screening of films, short films,
documentaries and TV series that focus on food-related issues
(drives, perversions, identity and emotional implications) in an
original way, as well as on the agricultural and food industry's
repercussion on society and the environment, and on gastronomic
memory as a common heritage to be safeguarded.

film, "Water's Bride", The Best Documentary of the Kyrgyzsatn
Isssik- Kul" Film Festival
Iranian documentary
"Water's Bride" directed by Mahdi Arab Yarmohammadi was awarded
the top prize for the best documentary in Kyrgyzstan's Issik-kul
film festival. The documentary, a product of the Iranian Young
Cinema Society (IYCS), shows how the rain tradition is held in a
district in the Iranian province of Semnan. The event also saw
the jury acclaim the Iranian short film, "Pain & Citron"directed
by Hossein Tourang who has depicted carpet darning.
The Issik-kul film festival which was held in the Kyrgyz city of
"Chalian Ata" showcases documentaries and short films produced
by young filmmakers. The Iranian Young Cinema Society, the
Kyrgyzkino National Organization and Kyrgyzstan Foreign Ministry
have jointly launched the film festival.
Envoys from Armenia, the Azerbaijan Republic, Belarusia,
Georgia, Kazakhstan, Lithonia, Moldavia, Russia, Tajikistan,
Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Estonia, Iran, Turkey, China, Canada, the
US and some European countries were present at the international
event. Nasser Bakideh, the head of the IYCS, represented Iran in
the festival.

Jury Special
Prize of the first International Qoranic films festival for the
short film"Presence"
The short film
"Presence" directed by Mohsen Ahmadi secured the special prize
of the jury in the First International Quranic Film Festival.
The seven –minute-long film is an experimental version of human
beings ' lifestyle and orientations. ' Presence' had already
been named as the candidate for the best experimental film in
the Young Cinema competition section at the Tehran International
Short Film Festival.

Iranian short
film "Cotton Tie" in the international competition section of
the most Sweden short film event: Uppsala Short Film Festival
A short animation
produced by the Iranian Young Cinema Society (IYCS) has been
selected for the competition section of 26th Uppsala Short Film
Festival in Sweden.
"Cotton Tie" directed by Farzaneh Zeinali has made it to the
international section of the film event. This year Sweden is
holding the 26th Uppsala Short Film Festival which is its most
leading short film event, on October 22- 28.
Farzaneh Zeinali, a post-graduate student of cinema, is an IYCS
member in Abadeh branch. The 10-minute-long "Cotton Tie" is her
first experience in filmmaking. The short film which is shot
through 3D MAX technique features an eraser that is tasked with
efforts to erase all good vocabularies from the dictionary.
