Director of Berlin Film Festival at the IYCS and DEFC

Mr. Dieter Kosslick, Festival Director of The Berlin International Film Festival visited Iranian Young Cinema Society ( IYCS ) & Documentary and Experimental Film Center ( DEFC )  on October 30 th, 2005.
During this meeting with the Managing Director of IYCS and DEFC, Head of International Relations of DEFC and Head of International Business, they discussed about the activities of IYCS and DEFC and also submitting short, documentary and feature films to Berlin Film Festival.

A program of Iranian documentary films in Canada

A program of Iranian documentary films (past and present), will be held during the International Documentary Festival of Montreal (10-20 November 2005).
The focus will be on the so-called "golden age" of documentary filmmaking in Iran in the 60's-70's, and its contemporary counterpart today. We will be showing films by Shirdel, Kimiavi, Taghvaï, Golestan, Forough Farrokzad, as well as more recent films.

Asian Film Academy

Pusan International Film Festival with Dong Seo,University, and KOFIC Korean Academy of Film Arts will organize the first Asian Film Academy. This year, 164 highly qualified applicants from 22 Asian countries applied for the first edition of AFA.
18 filmmakers have been applied by the Iranian Young Cinema Society (
IYCS ) & Documentary and Experimental Film Center ( DEFC ).
Reza Haeri, the Iranian Filmmaker has been selected to participate in Asian Film Academy (AFA) Korea.

Founded in 1946, the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival is among the oldest festivals in the world. It is ranked by FIAPF among the most prestigious world film festivals. Besides being the most significant film event in the Czech Republic, many film professionals consider it the most influential film festival in Central Europe. In the last years, the Festival, famous for its young enthusiastic audience, has become a cult place where the public, film professionals and filmmakers from all around the world can meet and enjoy high quality films.

For the first time the award for the best debut went to a film from " Another View " Section.

PRIZE AWARDS OF THE 5TH ECOCINEMA FESTIVAL GREECE  INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION
 
Best film prize of 7000 euros was awarded to Iranian director
BIJAN ZAMAN PIRA The prize sponsored by the Organization of the Promotion of Hellenic Culture, was given by the president of the Organization Mr Mavros, who noted that Greece may become a focal point in spreading the message of ecology through cinema and trans-cultural networks.

BIJAN ZAMAN PIRA surprised the jury with his integral and minimal cinematography, in two short films on water.  At DON’T DISTURB THE WATER, nomads in northern Iran are looking for late snow in the desert to use for their water supply.  At the second film A WINDOW FACING THE SUN, a traditional custom about rain in Kurdistan is transformed to a masterpiece of image and sound with no words.
